D. W. Roth was born in Florida and grew up in historic Sudbury, Massachusetts. He received a bachelor of fine arts in painting from Boston University under a Ford Foundation scholarship. He moved to New York city in 1980 and then Paris between 1982 and 1997. At times he shuttles between Boston and Paris where his work is often influenced by American history and European scenes. He now resides in the Boston area. His paintings have been commissioned and collected by historical and noted establishments such as the historical landmark and restaurant The Union Oyster House in Boston. His portraits have been commissioned by the United States Federal Court to portray judges and other noted individuals and was commissioned to paint all the judges past and present of the US federal court of Puerto Rico. His illustrations can be found in various publications and productions such as The Wall Street Journal, Info. Week, The History Channel, HBO, etc. |
